The Legendary Litter

5/27/25 Update We lifted the local-only restriction and breeding agreement for our final female, we are still open to that for a local person, but it’s not a requirement. Anyone interested in the last female spot please feel free to apply

5/17/25 Update We are down to one female spot remaining from our legendary litter, this requires a special circumstance relationship. Our puppy will be sold with the plan to (hopefully) breed her back to us in the future. As the breeder we take care of all vet bills that pertain to breeding, the owner would be responsible for all other medical, etc. like any other dog. If she is able to have a litter when the time comes, she will stay with us for whelping and for 8 or 9 weeks post whelping, then go back home for good. If successful, the owner will be given the option to get a puppy from the litter, or reimbursement of the initial purchase price. If you are local to Saratoga County, or in close proximity feel free to apply for this unique opportunity.

5/15/25 Update We have one male and one female spot open for this litter. We are looking for the right homes for these puppies. We are looking for homes that have ample time and space, these pups will need to be exercised often, and require training. Bonus points for those interested in getting involved in AKC, or UKC dog sports; ie. Hunt Testing, Agility, Dock Diving, Obedience, Rally, etc. Applications are open.

4/25/25 Update – This Wednesday, April 23rd we welcomed our new litter, we are tired, but full of joy. We are happy to report after two days Mom and her puppies are doing well. Our final numbers were 10 puppies, 6 boys, 4 girls, however two pups, one of each gender were stillborn. This is a sad truth bringing our final headcount to 8, 5 boys and 3 girls. We always say breeding is not for the faint of heart, we risk everything to preserve the breed for the next generation of retrievers, despite the losses we’re very proud of Marty, and Maggie and consider ourselves blessed to have these dogs in our lives. Their lives and the pups we’ve produced together are nothing short of Legendary.

What comes next? If you have already been in touch and paid for your spot on our waitlist, you will be hearing from us soon about how and when deposits are due. We have 3 spots that may still be open and we are accepting applications.

We are also still very interested in finding that perfect someone in the Saratoga Springs area that would be interested in a female that we’d breed back to us in a few years. Please contact us.

4/18/25 Update – Hello friends, things are moving really fast now, we’re just a few days away from a truly legendary big day! Maggie has been doing really great and literally just today we’ve started to feel puppies moving around, it’s really exciting. On Wed. 4/16/25 we had Maggies x-rays and we’re finally ready to share the results of our hopeful puppy count. Watch the video and enjoy!

We have not filled all availability yet, we’ve been cautiously waiting for good news. If you are interested applications are still open.

3/24/25 Update – We’ve anticipated this day with the nerves of first time parents, coming off a loss like we had a few years ago, then several other unsuccessful attempts, we’ve been extremely cautious with what we say, we didn’t want to jinx anything! Well, it seems our strategy worked, today Maggie had her ultrasound and we saw EIGHT tiny heartbeats. We can now confirms the Legendary litter is coming!

Our tentative due date is 4/24/25. Puppy applications are now open

Special arrangement – We plan to have one female that will require a co-ownership with the contingency of breeding one litter back to us in the future. We can cover the details further on a call or email.

Next Steps – Our next appointment is on 4/16/25 for X-rays.

2/28/25 Update – Maggie has a scheduled ultrasound appointment on 3/24/25, this will be a big day with loads of anticipating leading up to it.

We have received applications, we have been in contact with some folks, but if you completed an application and have not heard back from us we will be in touch with everyone who expressed interest, we promise. Until the ultrasound we’ve chosen hold all talks pending confirmation of the pregnancy.

2/25/25 Update – Side by side breeding with TCI went as planned, now we wait for an ultrasound in 30 days. Official due date for this litter if all goes to plan is April 24, 2025. For those interested in understanding the behind the scenes stuff a bit more, for the semen gathering and testing, a progesterone test, and the TCI insemination the cost was $1330.

2/14/25 Update – On this Valentine’s Day our Maggie and Marty had their first pre-breeding veterinary examination for our hopeful litter, Legendary. This was the first of the last for these two, it’s bittersweet and there will be a number of lasts as we make progress with this litter, but that’s enough of that talk though, let’s focus on all the good.

We are very pleased to report a positive outcome for today, both dogs Marty and Maggie had a good examination at Harmony, our reproductive vet clinic. In addition Maggie received a vaginal cytology and progesterone test, her levels had not elevated as of today which is day seven in her cycle. Progesterone test number two is scheduled for Monday.

So in summary our Legendary litter is on and off to a good start! We’ll be sure to continue to post more information when it’s available.

Cost for this visit was $550 to check overall health, and perform the first progesterone test

2/3/25 – Legends are born to those whom legacy carries rich heritage-this is how we see it anyway, and we believe Marty Moose and Maggie Moose have put their stamp on this world and made a huge positive impact on so many lives-to us they are legendary. Our hopeful litter has taken on this name, the Legendary litter, as this will be the last run of puppies from this stunning duo. It’s bittersweet and we pray for positive results, but can not guarantee anything except for the fact that we are working with the best veterinary professionals to ensure the best outcome.
