Today we had a successful breeding between Miles and Minnow, an exciting step forward for our upcoming spring litter of Golden Retriever puppies, Call of the Wild. While we typically plan for multiple breeding attempts over several days, today’s pairing went smoothly and naturally. In reality, once is all it really takes when timing and conditions are right.
This pairing was carefully planned with health, temperament, and purpose in mind. Miles (AKC CGC) is a kind, adventurous, gentle soul with a steady presence, and confidence. Minnow (AKC CGC, FTI) is a gorgeous young lady with natural drive and enthusiasm for the hunt. She is actively working toward her Junior Hunter (JH) title and has already earned her Fetch Novice, showing both trainability and heart. These dogs are going to be great adventure buddies up for anything from hunting to camping, to Saturday nights at home on the couch.
Over the next few weeks, Minnow will continue with her normal routines while we quietly monitor for early signs of pregnancy. Around weeks four to five, we expect to confirm the pregnancy, assuming all stays on track. As she moves into the later stages, her care will shift to support the final stretch, with increased rest, nutrition, and preparation for whelping.
If all continues as expected, we look forward to welcoming the Call of the Wild litter in late spring. As always, nature sets the schedule, and timelines can shift, but today marks an exciting and meaningful first step toward the arrival of these Golden Retriever puppies.
